Galapagos iguanas are indigenous, as you might guess, to the Galapagos Islands. They are also ordinarily known as Galapagos land iguanas.  The islands are in the eastern measure of the Pacific Ocean off of the western coast of South America. The name translates into Islands of the Tortoises, and many population automatically associate tortoises with the Galapagos Islands.

The islands have a piquant history. They are connected with pirates, whalers, and seal hunters. There was even a prison colony on the island of Floreana in the 1800's. The islands are more famously known for the studies made by Charles Darwin in 1835. His studies of the geology and biology of these islands later would be part of the research he used to write "The Origin of Species."

Galapagos iguanas usually reach a distance of nearby 3 feet and a weight of about 25 pounds.  These reptiles are not to be confused with the Galapagos marine iguana. They are more colorful than marine iguanas and inhabit the drier areas of the islands. Their original food source is the Prickly Pear Cactus, which provides not only food for the iguana but water as well.

Galapagos iguanas sleep in burrows they dig in the ground. They enjoy basking in the sun in the early hours, shifting to shaded cooler areas as the day progresses and the temperature rises. They seem to have a "you scratch my back I'll scratch yours" type of relationship with island birds, particularly finches. They elevate themselves to allow these birds to remove ticks and parasites from their bodies, in turn providing food for the birds.

In the mid 1970's, wild dogs became a severe threat to Cartago and Conway Bay iguana colonies, which required intervention by the Cdrs (Charles Darwin research Station) and the Gnps (Galapagos National Park Service.) These organizations began efforts to restore the destroyed iguana population and eventually eliminated the wild dogs from these areas.

The Galapagos iguana is primarily herbivorous just like other iguanas. However, some of these iguanas are known to feed on insects and carrion if their diet requires supplementing. Iguanas in the wild will adapt to determined environmental conditions just like any other animal in order to survive, even if it means eating something they usually would not.  A land iguana is usually a brownish red color and has a yellowish orange belly.

Fresh water is very scarce on the islands where the Galapagos land iguana lives. These iguanas get most of their "water" from the prickly pear cactus. The Portulaca is another food source for the land iguanas when available. These iguanas will also drink from water pools created by rainfall when they are available.

Galapagos land iguanas are estimated to have a lifespan of fifty to sixty years. They are carefully mature in the middle of the ages of 8 to 15 years. After mating, the female land iguanas originate a burrow 18-20 inches deep in sandy areas and lay roughly 2-20 eggs, which hatch about 90 to 120 days later.

The largest threats to Galapagos iguanas are caused by humans. Introduced feral animals destroy egg nests and strike the native iguanas. Iguanas don't have developed skills for reacting to or protecting themselves from these predators because they are not native to the islands.

It is incredibly sad that some humans are thoughtless and unconcerned concerning how their actions threaten not only the immediate preservation of the Galapagos Islands and their native wildlife, but the preservation of the islands for the hereafter long after they are gone. No one in good conscience should want to leave that type of "footprint."  I no ifs ands or buts do not.

Most of the threats to the Galapagos Island native animals are human induced:  the introduction of non-native plants and animals; threats of disease from increasing poultry farming on the populated islands; illegal fishing activities; oil tanker spills; illegal immigration; high birth rates; and the tourism industry.

The Galapagos Islands should be preserved for the native animals.  Human tampering of the ecosystem threatens the life sustaining capabilities of the law itself. Eventually this negligent tinkering will pose a more serious threat not only to animals and plants, but humans and our whole planet as well, if it hasn't already.  eventually there will be nothing left if we don't stop destroying and start preserving.

Fortunately, with the help of organizations like the Gnps and the Cdrs, ongoing implementation of new controls and plans will hopefully minimize the effects of the tourism industry. With a prolonged increase rate of tourists, however, there will always be a need to adapt and modify a law of controls that will be prosperous in preventing ecological upsets and controlling environmental impact.

Is Charles Darwin's theory Relevant Today?

What is relevant is the assumption by Darwin that Life is ever evolving, nothing is static. Darwin contended this; it is like plasticine or rubber, where life continues to mould itself, evolving in a process of natural selection where the weak or lazy give up and die, and the more forceful impose themselves by changing or adapting to the conditions to survive, grow and prosper.

Is it still the same today? I think so. What do you think? Are we still stuck in the same process of Natural selection as Charles Darwin contended some two hundred years ago? My reply is, "Yes, most probably!"

Your existence is the same. Evolution is something that is slow but when we stand way back (like geologists and paleontologists can do) they see the bigger photo stretched out over time, as Darwin did.

The race is survival, the finish line is reproduction; this is what Darwin's Natural selection is defined as. It is the key definition to by comparison evolution. An example of animals surviving could be like the giraffe growing a longer neck to feed on vegetation other animals could not reach.

Humans have a similar fight for survival with disease. In their explore of Aids, microbiologists have taken great observation in Africa where a few sex workers who have endured long periods of sexual caress with many clients who are Hiv positive. These female sex workers have physically adapted and naturally come to be immune to the Hiv virus. These immune sex workers naturally go about their chosen work immune to the disease. How is that? Darwin might say it is an example of natural selection. I would agree.

It appears to be a great example of Charles Darwin's law of the process of Natural Selection. Aids has been at the forefront of virus expansion since the early 1980's, and already some population are immune to this deadly disease. Now that's evolution sped up, in real time today. Some of the women are linked to one another and have likely passed the resistance on to the next generation, the microbiologists have concurred.

Another example appears from hundreds of years ago, some population had the genes to survive the plague which killed millions in Europe centuries ago.

Is Darwin's law occurring today? If it is, is it relevant? Taking the example of the African sex worker, it maybe occurring. Future explore will deliver those results.

Natural selection is relevant today because it helps us understand the natural changes in our surroundings, and even those imposed upon nature by humans. Can you think of natural selection occurring today whereby it has been started by humans?

Here is an example. How about horse breeding. How about pigeon breeding. These are examples of human imposed natural selection and we are therefore part of that process.

What Did Charles Darwin Do?

What Did Charles Darwin Do?

Charles Darwin was an English naturalist. He was born on February 12th 1809 (the same day in fact as the 16th Us President, Abraham Lincoln), educated at Edinburgh and Cambridge Universities, and in the years 1831 to 1835 participated in a five year trip around the world on the Hms Beagle. While Beagle's mission was to gawk and chart coastlines, Darwin amassed a huge range of natural history samples and learning the geology, botany and biology of the areas that the ship visited.

When Darwin returned to England, based in part on the samples he collected, he slowly developed his theory of evolution natural selection. Although the great age of the Earth and even evolutionary ideas (such as the idea that successive generations of organisms turn over time and that one species can transmutate into another) were a commonplace among the scientific community, these ideas had not commonly reached a wider public. This however changed in the 1840s when an anonymously published book (in fact written by the Scottish journalist, Robert Chambers), entitled "Vestiges of the Natural History of Creation" introduced the group to these sorts of ideas and caused a storm of controversy.

Although Darwin determined the science in "Vestiges of the Natural History of Creation" to be amateurish, he noted the storm of controversy caused by the book. As a result, he held back from publishing his own ideas, which included most crucially an explanation of the mechanism by which evolution occurs ("natural selection"), until he had amassed a mountain of evidence and discussion in keep of his thesis, as well as answers to all the likely objections.

Even then, Darwin held back from publishing, and at last only did so when urged to by his friend, Sir Charles Lyell, who had come to be aware that Alfred Russel Wallace was working on similar lines to Darwin, and concept that Darwin ought to publish to organize priority. Darwin's ideas were first presented in a paper to the Linnean community in a paper on July 1st, 1857 - it was read out by Lyell and Joseph Dalton Hooker, since Darwin was unable to attend due to the recent death of his child son from scarlet fever. Then in 1859, Darwin published one of the most foremost books in the history of science, "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life" (usually referred to as just the "On the Origin of Species").

Charles Robert Darwin was the first scientist who introduced the theory of evolution. He was a fantastic naturalist who changed the way citizen think about life on the earth. Charles Robert Darwin was born on 12th of February 1809 in Shrewsbury into a wealthy family, his father was a doctor, Darwin was a second son of Robert Waring. Darwin was concerned in science and nature, as from a young age he collected a lot of dissimilar things like stones, beetles and performed many experiments along with his brother. Darwin himself initially planned to ensue a medical career.

Darwin joined the Shrewsbury school in the year 1818 at the age of nine. Darwin did not enjoy going to school. Since his childhood he had a great curiosity about the natural world. He started to acquire the objects of both living and nonliving from the woods, rivers and other objects found in the surrounding areas such as beetles, etc. In his early years Darwin industrialized interest in geology, zoology, botany, and even in astronomy. Darwin's father sent him to the University of Edinburgh to be trained as a physician. While studying medicine Darwin continued his old hobbies of beetle collection, bird watching, etc. He made friends with a few scholars having interest in natural history and Robert Grant, a professor of Zoology. Darwin could not faultless his studies in medicine and got terminated.

After seeing Darwin's failure of becoming a physician, his father sent him to the Christ College with the idea that he should become a clergyman. Darwin returned home from Cambridge in 1831 by completing his studies. Darwin had turned to be a promising naturalist and he had industrialized a exact interest in studying geology, he was influenced by his professor Hens low's to become a naturalist. In the year 1831 Darwin got a job opportunity on a trip as the naturalist companion of caption Robert Fitzroy of the Hms, and set sail on 27th of December 1831. The Beagle visited many lands in the southern Pacific seas. Darwin started working on his "Journal of Researches" and some work based upon this journal which he had kept while the trip of the Beagle.

Darwin worked on his theory for 20 years by observing how the species were evolved. Darwin became a familiar scientist, he wrote some journals on biology and evolution on the species. In the year 1859 Darwin published 'On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection'. Darwin received some scientific awards. Darwin continued working and writing on the Origin of Species.

Identifying Female Finches From Male Finches

Finches come in discrete types and are assuredly quite common specifically in North America. They are a popular among pet owners, bird lovers, and enthusiasts because of their gorgeous songs and discrete colors. Finches are small birds now generally found in households, residential areas, and their natural habitats. They commonly conclude in woods, deserts, and meadows.

Many people find it hard to conclude female finches from male finches. But each one assuredly has telling characteristics that would make the task of identifying their sex fairly easy.

One of the ways to tell one from the other is their coloring. The male finch, as with many other species of birds, has more colors and/or more vivid colors than the female. Finding at their colors by far is the easiest way to differentiate in the middle of the two. The color pattern, however, depends on the type of finch. For instance, the male house finch which is common in areas of North America has brown flanks and a absorbing reddish-orange breast and head while the female house finch's whole body has varying shades of brown. Other male house finches may be of yellow-orange markings instead of red. The Cassin's finch, the Pine Grosbeak, and the Purple finch have the same reddish coloring. American goldfinches are of black and yellow coloring. They can be found in most parts of the United States and North America.

Female finches do not sing. They simply make clicking or warning sounds. Probably because they are the more protective ones when it comes to guarding their eggs and therefore have to use sounds to ward off inherent danger that may harm her babies. Male finches are the singers and sing their songs while courtship. The male house finch sing songs made up of short notes with no apparent melody or pattern. There are some male house finches that sing throughout the year. The female house finch can at times sing but their song is shorter. Other types of finches such as the male Purple finch sing many songs which consist of a territorial song and a warbling song. The female house finch sings a very unique nest song.

The American goldfinch sings a lot in the spring. While in flight, female and male partners commonly sing together although males still do most of the singing. The female oftentimes give out a call when her partner male finch approaches her with food for their baby birds.

Male and female finches are mostly the same size; although a male, due to its more vivid coloring, may appear much larger than the female. The male finches also puff up their feathers while courtship to appear even larger and therefore more attractive.

While a good amount of finches is easy to identify merely by Finding and listening to them, other finches are simply hard to identify without the assistance of an avian veterinarian or a seasoned breeder. Finches such as the community finch are difficult to identify as male or female. Finches such as the Gouldian finch, White Zebra finch, and Green Singing finch can assuredly be visually identified.

Four Men Who Rule the World From the Grave

Samsung Galaxy
ItemTitle

In postmodern western civilization most people claim to be free thinkers yet are enslaved to the ideas of four men who rule the world from the grave. The four men are Charles Darwin (1809 - 1882), Karl Marx (1818 - 1883), Friedrich Nietzsche (1844 - 1900) and Sigmund Freud (1856 - 1939).

These four men of the nineteenth century were the wrecking balls of western civilization. Their poisonous ideas challenged traditional Christian views and seduced Europe and America into a grand social experiment in unbelief.

What philosophers discuss over tea in one generation is taught in college in the next. A generation later it's taught in high school. Then it's in favorite culture and finally it's even taught in traditional school.

Charles Darwin's atheistic theory of evolution undermined the Christian faith of hundreds of millions. Marx, Nietzsche and Freud were directly and profoundly influenced by Darwin's writings.

The Darwinian contention that human beings are nothing more than soulless descendants of apes who have no conscious existence after death became the presuppositional foundation of the whole secular intellectual edifice.

Ironically, Darwin's biographers freely admit that Darwin offered very small traditional view in his renowned 1859 book "The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection." Evolution as a theory of natural history had preceded him by at least two generations. Earlier writers had even discussed natural selection. Darwin's own grandfather, Erasmus Darwin, had written on evolution.

Until Darwin, evolution had been confined to the smallest angle of the intellectual elite. Darwin is renowned because he tied all the loose ends together and presented it in an orderly way that caught fire among a far wider range of educated people.

Darwin is also renowned for his extremely confrontational and racist 1871 book "The Descent of Man." This book was penned to counter the criticism of his 1859 book and to fully and boldly design his reliance that human beings are descended from apes.

The Descent of Man is unfortunately overtly racist and claims that determined brown skinned peoples are less evolved than the Europeans. This gave great momentum to biological based racism and gave it intellectual respectability.

Aborigines were legally hunted like big game in Australia. Belgians in the Congo shot black natives with impunity. Hitler quoted extensively from Darwin in his book, "Mein Kampf," and developed his claim of Aryan superiority from Darwinian principles.

In the United States, in the late nineteenth century, evolution was taught and discussed only among the educated elite.

Evolution was taught only at the university level and to some degree in the high schools. In the 1880s only about 4% of American students went on to high school which was called secondary school. Only about 1% of the people went to college. All the rest were educated in traditional school up to the eighth grade.

The well educated people in the Us were increasingly secularized while the traditional schools still held to traditional Christian values. This led to a divide between the upper class and the tasteless man that persists to a degree down to the present generation. Secular Humanism has emerged as the dominant faith of the elite. Darwinism is its origins myth.

Karl Marx and Charles Darwin were contemporaries and customary with each other's work. Marx was influenced by Darwin and mentioned him in his book, "Das Kapital." Marx subscribed to a doctrine of economic determinism. He regarded economic gain as the strongest urge of the human animal. He regarded humans as animals; as mere atoms in motion.

Marx subscribed to the Hegelian view that human government is greater than the sum of its parts. Thus we have the Marxist illogic that regards the private as worthless but if you put the individuals together into a government then you have something of real value. Marx considered human government the savior of mankind that would lead people to utopia.

Marx's writings inspired generations of revolutionaries that embarked on the largest economic social experiment of all time. The experiment to see if an all powerful government owning all property could generate a perfect utopian community failed miserably. Historians assessment that between 70 million and 100 million people were killed by communist governments in their quest for utopia.

Nevertheless Marxist ideas still guide the socialistic tendencies of all the contemporary democracies of Europe and of North and South America.

A generation after Darwin and Marx a bolder and more passionately atheistic philosopher arose. His name was Friedrich Nietzsche and he believed that humans are most profoundly motivated by a desire to dominate others. Nietzsche called this "the will to power."

Nietzsche was an existentialist philosopher. Existentialism is radical individualism in which the private must exert his own will and throw off social institution to generate his own unique life. He regarded those who lived according to the rules as inauthentic, as mere followers and small minded.

Nietzsche rejected God's law and wrote some overtly blasphemous things. He also had radical views on politics. He was of the view that all the great civilizations of the antique world were built on slavery and brutality in which the intellectual elite lived luxuriously off of the hard labor of the many.

He rationalized that slavery and oppression were good because it freed the elite to build astounding buildings and furnish great works of art. Hitler read Nietzsche extensively and even gave copies of Nietzsche's books to his officer corps.

Nietzsche's existentialism and atheism was very influential among the intellectuals of his own time and reverberates down to our own day especially in postmodernism. Nietzsche influenced the existentialist philosophers Jean Paul Sartre and Albert Camus and their post Wwii doctrine of pessimism. The youth rebellion of the 1960s had many elements of Nietzschean radical existentialism.

Sigmund Freud regarded sexuality as the principle motivator of humans. His entire psychoanalytic therapy is based on the sway of sexual feelings and desires. He was especially involved with repression of sexual urges and how that influenced the thinking health of the individual.

Those he influenced went on to begin the sexual revolution in which traditional house buildings and fidelity were abandoned. This also is a great social experiment that is ruining lives all over the world. house breakdown, child abandonment, abortion of millions of babies and the spread of more than three dozen varieties of sexually transmitted disease are grim inspect to sexual anarchy.

Darwin saw man as a soulless animal motivated only by the will to survive. Marx saw man as a purely economic creature. Nietzsche saw man straight through the lens of power and the will to rule others. Freud saw man as motivated disproportionately by sex. Their blasphemy and lawlessness has torn the heart out of humanity and brought about the alienation and despair that leads to lawlessness, house breakdown, serial killings, shooting sprees and juvenile suicide.

Darwin, Marx, Nietzsche and Freud worked no miracles and had no supernatural accreditation yet billions of people ensue them. These four men offered nothing but a vain exertion at utopia in this life and no promise of life hereafter.

Jesus Christ by difference came in fulfillment of over three hundred predictive prophecies that were written in the Old Testament hundreds of years before His birth. He worked miracles among the people of his time and miracles still occur today in His name.

Jesus taught us God's morals and He lived a perfect life and then suffered and died for our sins. We receive forgiveness of sins straight through Christ. He is the promised Messiah of Israel and the redeemer of all mankind.

Christ rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. This also was foretold by the prophets. Those four men rule from the grave but Christ rules from heaven and is greater than all.

Charles Darwin system of Evolution

Evolution Theory

When conversations about Darwin and evolution get started, there is often a misunderstanding about definitions. Many citizen think that by evolution Darwinists are stating that species gradually turn over time. This is not even close to what Darwin believed or what the implications are that logically result from his hypothesis. Pretty much everybody agrees that species adapt and turn over time; this is absolutely just a natural occurrence from reproduction.

Natural Selection

Darwin's claim was a lot more than simply turn over time. His law was that all species descended from a common ancestor. He also stated that all distinct and new species could be explained by descent with modification. Darwin's law of Natural choice also led to separating humans from a divine originator (a major goal of Darwin). If you result his conclusions to their logical ends, then you come up with some fairly disturbing ideas.

Troubling Conclusions

By keeping a originator out of the equation and relying only on Natural choice and Survival of the Fittest, some troubling things emerge. First, slavery would have to be seen as acceptable and so would eugenics. They would be the natural end products of the strong using their advantages and the weak and handicapped being left to die off or even overtly killed.

When you keep out the Divine you're left with only Naturalism or Materialism. To most citizen this view is quite a horrifying view of life. Darwin's second book, Descent of Man, is mostly about applying the Natural choice and survival of the fittest process to humans. The unavoidable results about slavery and eugenics are why it's commonly soft pedaled by promoters of Darwinism. Although Charles Darwin himself was an ardent abolitionist, the controversial ideas his theories supported were seized and promoted or even implemented by evil citizen throughout history (Hitler, Margaret Sanger). This added discredited his views among citizen who absolutely took the time to read his books. If the theories are so good, why misinform and lie about them?

Marx subscribed to the Hegelian understanding that human government is greater than the sum of its parts. Thus we have the Marxist illogic that regards the individual as worthless but if you put the individuals together into a government then you have something of real value. Marx determined human government the savior of mankind that would lead population to utopia.

Marx's writings inspired generations of revolutionaries that embarked on the largest economic communal experiment of all time. The experiment to see if an all marvelous government owning all property could create a excellent utopian community failed miserably. Historians estimate that in the middle of 70 million and 100 million population were killed by communist governments in their quest for utopia.

Existentialism is radical individualism in which the individual must exert his own will and throw off communal institution to create his own unique life. He regarded those who lived according to the rules as inauthentic, as mere followers and small minded.

Nietzsche rejected God's law and wrote some overtly blasphemous things. He also had radical views on politics. He was of the understanding that all the great civilizations of the antique world were built on slavery and brutality in which the intellectual elite lived luxuriously off of the hard labor of the many.

He rationalized that slavery and oppression were good because it freed the elite to build splendid buildings and furnish great works of art. Hitler read Nietzsche extensively and even gave copies of Nietzsche's books to his officer corps.

Nietzsche's existentialism and atheism was very influential among the intellectuals of his own time and reverberates down to our own day especially in postmodernism. Nietzsche influenced the existentialist philosophers Jean Paul Sartre and Albert Camus and their post Wwii philosophy of pessimism. The youth rebellion of the 1960s had many elements of Nietzschean radical existentialism.

Sigmund Freud regarded sexuality as the principle motivator of humans. His whole psychoanalytic therapy is based on the influence of sexual feelings and desires. He was especially concerned with repression of sexual urges and how that influenced the thinking health of the individual.

Those he influenced went on to start the sexual revolution in which original house buildings and fidelity were abandoned. This also is a great communal experiment that is ruining lives all over the world. house breakdown, child abandonment, abortion of millions of babies and the spread of more than three dozen varieties of sexually transmitted disease are grim seek to sexual anarchy.

Darwin saw man as a soulless animal motivated only by the will to survive. Marx saw man as a purely economic creature. Nietzsche saw man through the lens of power and the will to rule others. Freud saw man as motivated disproportionately by sex. Their blasphemy and lawlessness has torn the heart out of humanity and brought about the alienation and despair that leads to lawlessness, house breakdown, serial killings, shooting sprees and youthful suicide.

Darwin, Marx, Nietzsche and Freud worked no miracles and had no supernatural accreditation yet billions of population follow them. These four men offered nothing but a vain endeavor at utopia in this life and no promise of life hereafter.

Jesus Christ by difference came in fulfillment of over three hundred predictive prophecies that were written in the Old Testament hundreds of years before His birth. He worked miracles among the population of his time and miracles still occur today in His name.

Jesus taught us God's morals and He lived a excellent life and then suffered and died for our sins. We receive forgiveness of sins through Christ. He is the promised Messiah of Israel and the redeemer of all mankind.

Christ rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. This also was foretold by the prophets. Those four men rule from the grave but Christ rules from heaven and is greater than all.
